Pray All Day: Pentecost 24Hr Prayer

Let’s pray together for 24 hours non-stop!
Choose 1 hour to pray during the following timeframe:
9.00am Sat 19 - 9.00am Sun 20 May
To sign up for a time, please email Lauren: lauren@toowongunitingchurch.org.au

Pentecost is celebrated on the 7th Sunday after Easter to commemorate the pouring out of the Holy Spirit upon the 12 apostles and many other followers of Jesus while they were praying together in Jerusalem (read more in Acts chapter 2). This saw the birth of the early Christian church as the apostles, empowered by the Holy Spirit, spread the good news about Jesus and performed many signs in his name. This year, Pentecost is celebrated on Sunday 20 May.

From 9.00am on Saturday 19 May, we ask you to join with us for "Pray All Day"; our Pentecost 24 hour prayer meeting. This will wrap up at 9.00am on Sunday 20 May with a special Pentecost worship service. Let’s pray together for 24 hours non-stop for a pouring out of the Holy Spirit on our church so that we may know, understand and be part of God’s plan for us as we look to the future and seek to continue to share the gospel message.

To take part, simply sign up for a one hour block during this time, then come along to the prayer room under the house at your allocated time. If you can’t physically make it into the prayer room, you are most welcome to pray from home. You can pray as an individual, a group or a family, and you may even like to invite friends and family from around Brisbane, and around the world, to pray with you.

Ministry of Sound Volunteers

Training Session: Sunday 20 May
After the worship service
We are looking for new recruits who are eager to learn how to use our new sound system to support the musicians and speakers as they lead worship on Sunday mornings. This is an important role that will enable the whole congregation to hear, enjoy and take part in worship each Sunday. No experience is necessary, as the new system is very easy to learn and we will provide you with training on Sunday 20 May at the end of the service. This will be a great skill to have, and we’d encourage any teenagers to join the team!

Joke for the Week

How do you organise a space party?
You planet.

Verse for the Week

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
(John 1:1-5)
