Connect Brunch

The Connect Brunch is our way of welcoming you to TUC. It’s a great way to meet members of the TUC congregation and find out more about the church’s activities. Senior Youth Group

When: Fortnightly Saturdays
Time: 7.00 – 9.00pm
Next Gathering: 21 July
Our Senior Youth Group (grades 9 – 12) meet on Saturday nights during the school term for games, bible study and prayer. Our first gathering for term 3 is on Saturday 21 July. Please get in touch with Clare for more information: c_hankamer@hotmail.com

Church Council

The church council’s next meeting is on Sunday 22 July. If you have any ideas or suggestions you’d like to raise, please be in touch with a member of church council so these can be addressed at the meeting: Wayne Middleton (Chair), Dianne Hubbard (Secretary), Clare Hankamer, Garry Jennings, Stephen Longbottom, Lauren Murray, Karen Nivala, Sue O’Brien, Matt Smith, Will Stewart and David Vicig.

Monday at Midday: A Fresh Look at Mark’s Gospel

Dates for term 3:
23 July, 30 July, 6 August, 13 August, 20 August
Join us on Mondays at midday for a relaxed and fun look into the Gospel of Mark. We meet in the TUC hall and also share lunch together. This will go for 5 consecutive weeks, starting on Monday 23 July.

Training Renewal: TUC Volunteers

When: Tuesday 24 July
Time: 6 – 9pm at TUC
Thank you to everyone who volunteers to help run our kid’s ministry and various events for kids and young people! Many of you will be required to renew your Safe Ministry with Children training either in July this year, or shortly thereafter. All volunteers who work with children, and all church council members, are required to complete this training every 2 years as part of the Safe Ministry with Children Policy. Please book yourself in for  the above training date by emailing the Bremer Brisbane Presbytery Office: office@bremerbrisbane.org.au 

Free English Conversation

When: Mondays
Time: 9.30 – 11.30am
Our free English Conversation Classes run every Monday during the school term from 9.30 – 11.30am in the hall. The classes are very relaxed, and are a great way for people to practise speaking English while getting to know each other. Please get in touch with Barry for more information: bazza172@yahoo.com

Tuesday Pastorate

When: Fortnightly Tuesdays
Time: 7.00 – 9.00pm
Next Gathering: 7 August

Pastorate meet every second Tuesday night during the school term from 7.00 – 9.00pm. It’s
 a great way to get to know God while also building friendships with each other. We are currently on a break over the school holidays and the first part of term 3, but will meet again on 7 August. We’d love to see you there!

Pantry Donations

A sincere thank you to all who donate so generously to the TUC pantry. Recently, the pantry has been able to support a number of people from the community. We are currently in need of the following items: microwave meals/instant meals, canned tuna (different flavours), rice, oil, pasta, black tea. If you’re able to add an extra item to your weekly shop, that would be much appreciated. Pantry donations may be left in the marked box in the church foyer.

Toowong Stitching & Friendship Group

When: 1st 3rd  & 5th Tuesdays
Time: 9.30am
The group will next meet on Tuesday 31 July
The Toowong Stitching and Friendship Group meet during the school term on the 1st,  3rd and 5th Tuesdays of every month. Come along for a chance to learn some craft and sewing skills, and to chat over morning tea.

International Missions Task Group

TUC is calling all interested people to form an International Missions Task Group to seek out ideas on how we can best support and engage with meaningful, life-transforming international Christian missions. The aim of the Task Group will be to discuss and discern how we might better partner with and promote global missions at TUC. BST Missions Conference

Don’t miss this year’s missions conference, “Not against flesh and blood, the Christian and the powers”, with keynote speakers Dr Scott Moreau and Dr Darrell Bock. Cool & Classic Concert

When: Sunday 29 July
Time: 2 – 4.30pm
Where: Kenmore Uniting Church
Six of the best singing stars in the Queensand Conservatorium will warm up a winter afternoon in the second Cool & Classic Concert for 2018. The programme will showcase a range of favourite songs from opera and musical theatre, with a chance to chat to the performers following the concert over afternoon tea. GROW Women’s Conference

Trinity College Principal’s Hour

Though the central focus of the Trinity College Queensland’s Principal’s Hour is a sermon preached by faculty or invited guest, the community also enjoys music of a very high standard and hears a student relate their academic learning to everyday life (“People in Focus”). The College provides lunch following Principal’s Hour to encourage further theological discussion. You’re invited to come to Principal’s Hour even if you’re not enrolled in one of our courses.

Uniting Women 2018 Conference

UnitingWomen 2018 will be a time for Christian women across Australia to gather, grow and be inspired. Our speakers include keynote Eloise Wellings, Uniting Church in Australia President-elect Deidre Palmer, Queensland Synod General Secretary Rev Heather den Houting and many more.
