KATS stands for “Kids At Toowong on Sunday”

On Sunday during the service, children are encouraged to take part in the children’s talk before moving to the hall in their KATS groups. There are three KATS age groups:

Our Aim

Children’s Ministry at Toowong Uniting Church aims to provide a safe and nurturing place for children to grow in their faith, to make friends, and to be supported and encouraged by the whole church community. It is so wonderful to be able to worship with families and young children! Please don’t worry if your kids make a bit of noise during the service - that’s what kids tend to do! We would much rather have a noisy church than one without families!

Our Curriculum

Our KATS leaders use the Scripture Union Light curriculum.  Each session encourages the children to get to know God better through praying together, looking at the bible together, themed games and craft.

There are also a number of social events over the year including a Pancake Party, Light Party and Christmas Celebration. We also love it when the kids get involved in the Sunday services, sharing with us about what they’ve been learning in KATS.

Safe Ministry with Children

TUC has adopted the Uniting Church in Australia Queensland Synod’s Safe Ministry with Children Policy and believes that every person is precious to God and in following Jesus’ example, we are committed to providing a safe church for all, particularly those who are vulnerable. All volunteers working with children at TUC have up-to-date Blue Cards and have completed the Safe Ministry with Children training. Childwise has produced a resource for parents:  A Parent’s Guide to Choosing Childsafe Organisations.
